Los Lunas Office
FROM THE LOS LUNAS OFFICE We’re moving right along out here in Valencia County!  During the past year we have added new clinicians and support staff.  Chris is providing case management, Lorinda is responsible for administrative operations and Greg brings organizational skills, and technological understanding to the office. Our clinical staff continues to grow.  Deanna has been with us most of the year, Julia and Carlton recently joined us and Emma and Peter are joining our team as I write this.  We are pleased to have Cinnamon on our team – she is an important piece to our new relationship with the New Mexico Woman Recovery Academy which helps women be more present as parents and provides therapeutic interventions for the children in need.  Although I have been here for a few years, I have now taken over the administrative and clinical management. I hope you all have a peaceful 2009. Michael Ollom, LISW, Program Supervisor

Children Heal Through Play
Art Therapy and Play Therapy are two ways children may access and heal upsetting events in their lives.  Linda Hunter, a Registered Play Therapist, states, “Imaginative play is used by children to resolve the past, cope with the present, and prepare for the future” “In play children find answers from within”.  A child therapist may help by being an attentive witness to this play or artmaking activity.  In being supported this way, the child most often feels heard and understood.
